In London's Westminster Abbey lies the body of the Unknown British Warrior.
The coffin was made of English oak with a crusader-style sword, presented by the King, attached to it. On 9th November 1920 the coffin with the body of the Unknown British Warrior was brought from France to England by the destroyer Verdun. Crowds gathered at every station on the way as the Unknown Warrior's train travelled north from the Kent coat (Dover) to London's Victoria station. The Unknown British Warrior is buried on Armistice Day 11 November 1920. |
